Maths targets for the spring term 

Be able to count a collection of 10 objects.

Be able to count a collection of 20 objects.

Begin to combine two groups and count saying how many altogether.

Begin to combine three groups and count saying how many altogether.

I can use a number line to count on and record a number sentence.

Writing targets for the spring term

Write single letters or groups of letters to represent meaning.

Write first and surname from memory.

Write a simple sentence or caption.

Write a simple sentence using finger spaces between words.

Write a simple sentence using finger spaces, capital letters and full stops.

Reading targets for the spring term

I can hear and say initial sounds in words.

I can blend simple words using phonic knowledge.

I can read simple words and sentences.

I can read words and sentences that include tricky words.

I can talk about books/stories showing understanding about what I have read.

Speaking and listening rules 

We listen when somebody else is talking.

We take turns to talk.

We like everyone to talk and ask questions.

We allow children to finish their own sentences.

We don’t laugh at each other even when the wrong answer is given.

This Term:

Spring 1 – 

The theme for this half term is “Healthy Me”.  We are using the core stories of The Gingerbread Man and Handa’s Surprise to compare different foods.  We are looking at non-fiction texts to find out which foods are healthy for us.  We will make a range of foods including gingerbread men and fruit salads.

Spring 2 – 

The theme for this half term is houses and homes using the traditional tales of The 3 Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood.  We will look at the materials of different homes and compare these.   We will have a walk round the local area looking at different types of homes.  We will design our own homes using a range of materials.
